Toronto isn’t as well known for its hailstorms as the Midwest, but every year we experience our fair share. If your car has been in any type of hailstorm, you need PDR hail damage repair services.
PDR for hail repair is the most affordable, quickest and most convenient way for repairing dents caused by hail stones. Don’t replace any parts until you’ve received an estimate. You could be saving yourself thousands by calling today!

What are the benefits of paintless dent repair for hail damage?

How does PDR work to repair hail damage?
Paintless dent repair technicians can reverse a dent in one of three ways:
- Push the dent out by getting access behind the dent.
- Pull the dent out with a Glue Puller.
- Pull the Dent out with a suction cup.
Most technicians prefer the first method because it allows for greater control over the area that’s affected. Pulling techniques are not nearly as accurate and precise.
PDR works well for hail repair because most hail pellets don’t leave scratches. Even the largest hail stones will only leave a big dent in your car (or a broken window). If the paint hasn’t been scratched off, there’s a good chance you can have your dent reversed using PDR.
Repair process for hail damage
The paintless dent repair process starts with your technician assessing the types of dents that have been left on your vehicle. You will receive a quote on how much your hail damage repair will cost. The work is then performed to reverse the dent which includes polish and touch-up where required.
#1. Wash & Polish
This prepares the area to be worked on by removing any dirt or light scratches.
#2. Set up access to the dent
Setting up the work area includes using a PDR light system to highlight all the dimples and dents that hail damage caused. Every area and panel on the car will require a unique setup as there are sometimes car parts that need to be removed to get access behind the dent (for dents that are pushed out). If the dent is inaccessible a glue pull, or suction cup can be used as a plan B and C (we almost NEVER use suction cups).
#3. Reverse the dent
In most cases, we use a heat gun to heat the area and loosen the metal to make it easier to manipulate. When pushing the dent out, we use dent bars (steel rods) of different shapes and sizes to work the dent back to its original shape. This process is performed by slowly working the dent out using a twisting, repetitive motion.
When pulling the dent, we use dissolvable glue to attach a rod to the dent. We then use a glue puller to slowly pull the bar (attached to the dent) to return the dent to its prior position. Glue pullers are only used when the area behind the dent is inaccessible to apply the more accurate and precise technique of pushing the dent out.
#4. Final touch-ups
The final stage of PDR is making sure that the affected area completely matches the rest of the vehicle. This could mean, minor “tap downs” and/or light sanding. Every job is concluded with a wash and polish for a flawless examination and presentation of the area that was previously dented.

How to repair hail damage with Magic Dent Repair
#1. Receive an estimate
To receive an estimate on hail damage repair cost, your car needs to be assessed properly by one of our PDR technicians. We need to see your car under our lighting system to determine:
- The number of dents on your vehicle
- The location/accessibility of each dent
- What “dent package” is suited to your needs
#2. Check with your insurance agent as to whether your policy covers hail damage
Many insurance policies come with hail damage repair coverage since it falls under “acts of nature.” If this is the case, you will get your car dents from hail repaired for the price of your deductible.
If your deductible is less than the cost to repair hail damage, you save money.
There is no increase in premiums when you claim hail damage.
